The internet is rife with rubbish. The following links will get you started in your search for the good stuff. These websites link in turn to other sources of good material.

The media get very excited by one-off studies of things they think will get people to click their advertising links. Mobile phones, social media, mental health of young people, etc, etc. all get noticed. You can ignore most of it until it becomes established science. Many studies, repeated by many scientists over many years are needed to establish a new insight, anything else is a flash in the pan.

There is a serious shortage of helpful Christian material online. I’m working to put this right.

Secular sources you ought to become familiar with

NHS A to Z – is excellent information about any illness and very good on mental health. This site reflects the way your doctor will understand a condition and is the first place I go when I encounter something new.

Mind – the national mental health charity has a brilliant section on each mental health condition. Less medial and more social in it’s approach.

Self-help guides – a series of 23 superb, award-winning self-help booklets available for download or booklets to order by post. These offer brief, well written, expert information, advice and guidance.

Specifically Christian sources

The Human Journey – is maintained by the Christian Medical Fellowship offering the perspective of a Christian specialist on a number of medical issues with some excellent material on mental health.
